The Military Billing Counselor serves as a key liaison between the university and military-affiliated students, focusing primarily on processing Military Tuition Assistance (TA). This role ensures timely and accurate invoicing, reconciliation, and compliance with federal and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations. The counselor also provides guidance and support to military students regarding their tuition funding and billing questions. Additionally, this position may also be responsible for various processing requirements for each of the functional areas.

Spend less time commuting and more time focusing on meaningful work or personal priorities. Core hours are 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, including a 1-hour lunch, for a 37.5-hour week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and process Military Tuition Assistance authorizations (e.g., ArmyIgnitED, MyCAA, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard).
- Ensure correct tuition and fee rates are applied to student accounts in compliance with DoD policies and university procedures.
- Updating student accounts to ensure accurate tuition rates and adjusting accounts when needed.
- Reconcile student accounts related to TA payments; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Proactively monitor and track TA submissions to ensure timely processing prior to course start dates.
- Notify students of any missing documentation, incomplete TA forms, or discrepancies that may impact their billing or enrollment.
- Coordinate with academic departments to confirm course details, such as start/end dates and credit hours, required for TA authorization and invoicing.
- Stay informed of changes to DoD and service branch policies regarding TA eligibility, rates, caps, and invoicing requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and compliance updates related to military education benefits and student account management.
- Act as point of contact on phones to counsel students.
- Assist with all assigned work queues, email and message center communications.
- Support the collection of required documentation and processing of forms related to Veterans Benefits and Tuition Assistance.
- Support the development of the whole student by providing excellent customer service and resolution of issues through telephone, email, and preparation of written correspondence.

- Associate degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, business, education).
- Previous experience in financial aid administration or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and explain complex financial information to diverse audiences.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience in PowerFAIDS preferred
The hiring salary range for this position is $40,875- 42,000.00. The hiring salary range above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting.
