In this advanced research course, you will examine how to apply best practices and strategies used by professionals to gather evidence, evaluate and analyze records, and report the findings of complex genealogical problems. Both solved and unsolved problems will be thoroughly dissected, analyzed, and reassembled. Through the investigation of these cases, you will observe how genealogical professionals approach and solve difficult identity inquiries. Working with your classmates, you will discuss ethical considerations, investigate difficult genealogical questions, and practice peer review. Throughout the course, you will apply best practices in an attempt to solve a complex genealogical problem. This course will prepare students for careers and/or further professional study in the practice of genealogy.
